Katja Restović has been honoured with the St. Mauro Award, presented on the occasion of the feast day of the city’s patron saint. The ceremony took place on 20 November 2018 in the Istrian Assembly Hall, where the award was presented to her by the Mayor of Poreč, Loris Peršurić.
In his congratulatory address, the Mayor remarked:
“Throughout your years of work in our city, Katja, you have left a lasting and indelible mark. Your enthusiasm and perseverance in shaping Poreč’s cultural scene have brought many citizens to the theatre stage and even into documentary films and music videos. Thanks to your initiative, Poreč gained events such as the Zlatni Zub festival and the Christmas Gospel Concert, both of which have become traditional and recognisable cultural highlights. That is why I believe this award is truly in the right hands.”
The ceremony was attended by numerous distinguished guests, including Poreč–Pula Bishop Mons. Dr. Dražen Kutleša, Deputy County Prefect Sandra Čakić Kuhar, Mayor of the partner city of Vinkovci Ivan Bosančić, President of the City Council Adriano Jakus, city councillors and many others.
The St. Mauro Award is given to individuals whose work has made a contribution of exceptional significance to the community or whose achievements create lasting cultural value for the city. The award itself is an original artwork — a sculpture of St. Mauro created by academic sculptor Melanija Krajina.
