Photodistorzija: A multimedia exhibition that anticipated contemporary visual practices
The 2003 author project combined photography, performance and installation, questioning perception and illusion in the digital age.
Photodistorzija is one of Katja Restović’s key early multimedia projects, created at a moment when digital manipulation was not yet standard in visual art. The exhibition merges performative elements, experimental lens work and research into subjective perception, resulting in photographs that exist on the boundary between the real and the illusory.
The project stood out for its innovative approach and interdisciplinary blend of media, later influencing artists who began exploring identity fluidity through photography and installation. Photodistorzija remains one of the foundations of her multimedia oeuvre.
