Michelangelo Koolman, a singer from Aruba, reached out to Katja Restović, telling her she was a creative discovery for him and asking to collaborate. He stayed in Croatia for two weeks, and in that time they produced music videos for two of his original songs and filmed two cover songs.
Koolman is an artist whose music demands visuals that pulse with the same strength as his performance. In the four videos Restović directed for him, the emphasis was on dynamics, contrast and stage charge.
The shoots were often rhythmically demanding but creatively exhilarating, as Koolman brings a strong personality and expressive power that can easily take over the frame. The result is a series of videos that still radiate the energy of live performance.
