Katja Restović has filmed hundreds of music videos, and she recently presented her successful collaboration with Tereza Kesovija.
Last week, the diva of the Croatian music scene, Tereza Kesovija, presented a new video for the song “Ima te” (“You Exist”), directed by Katja Restović, one of our best-known music-video directors. She has created several hundred works for the most famous domestic performers, and the versatile Restović has also published three books, organized fashion festivals, and worked in sculpture.
“Tereza’s energy is infectious and extremely inspiring to me. Since I met her about 15 years ago, she’s always been the same—strong, beautiful, charismatic, and big-hearted. This video was physically very demanding for her, but for all of us as well. Still, like a true professional, she did everything I asked of her—and as a director, I always ask for a lot. She didn’t resist a single idea or suggestion. It’s always been like that when we work together.
She ran, climbed rocks, walked through the city, drove, endured fans, heat, and cold. To show her dedication as transparently as possible, I’ll just say that in the video for ‘Ima te’, every time we shot with playback, she sang her heart out—at least 30 times. She was fully aware that only in that way would she convey the emotions that are essential to her interpretation. Tereza is also wonderful support, a great friend, and an extremely interesting person. Whenever I work with her, I enjoy it like a child and learn so much from her,” says Restović, who has always preferred form over color.
