A Quickie

The theatre performance „ A Quickie“  is an urban, contemporary comedy that humorously and sharply explores marital relationships, identity crises and the human need for understanding. The story follows a married couple in which the husband loses his job and, while searching for a new purpose, decides to become a marriage counsellor and start his own psychotherapy practice.

As Katja Restović explains, this initial situation unfolds into a series of witty and unexpected encounters. Several couples come for individual consultations, followed by a group therapy session, during which not only the clients’ issues are revealed, but also deeper truths about the therapist himself and his personal life.

Cast

The roles of husband and wife are performed by Azeglio Picco and Alenka Korelić-Lučić, with their son played by Patric Darrer. The couples attending therapy are portrayed by Ana-Marija Tubaković and Žitomir Klaričić, Franka Kleinert and Nenad Sinčić, as well as Jakša Grgić, who appears with his son – Sven Djula. A particularly striking and humorous portrayal of a lover is delivered by  Daliborka Škofić, adding an  extra layer of  playfulness  to the performance.

Production

The production, adds Katja Restović, was created in a simple yet dramaturgically precise form. All texts were written originally, with numerous adjustments made during rehearsals to suit each performer individually. Every role was built around the actors’ own personalities, giving the audience the impression of authenticity rather than acting.

For this reason, concludes Katja Restović, the performance is played with great ease and naturalness. Nabrzaka toured throughout the entire region of Istria, where it attracted significant audience attention and strong engagement. The sense of fulfilment that follows the creation and premiere of such a performance is difficult to describe — it represents the very essence of theatre and shared artistic work.
