Sanja Muzaferija and Fashion News – a meeting of media and fashion

Sanja Muzaferija is an editor, journalist, and writer with extensive experience in media, culture, and lifestyle journalism. She began her professional career in theatre, and her interest in aesthetics and visual culture led her to write about costumes and costume design, which later naturally evolved into fashion and women’s magazines. At a young age, she joined the legendary women’s magazine Svijet, and later worked for the international edition of Cosmopolitan, further shaping her cosmopolitan outlook on media and culture.

She earned a master’s degree in Media Studies at the University of Sussex, with a thesis focused on film. Her master’s thesis, From Kitsch to Camp, was published as a book by Meandar Media. She is also the author of several notable publications, including Happy Homes, the first Croatian coffee-table book of its kind, as well as The Cheese Book. Muzaferija is the founder and long-time editor of Croatia’s first women’s lifestyle magazine, GalaStyle.

Sanja Muzaferija was also a member of the Fashion News jury, contributing her strong media background and understanding of how fashion and design communicate with the public. Reflecting on that collaboration, Katija Restović recalls the period with particular warmth:

We still keep in touch today and often remember that time, because Fashion News truly marked the fashion scene of the 1990s—not only in Croatia, but across Europe.”

Throughout her career, Sanja Muzaferija has lived and worked in Croatia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Today, she is a columnist for domosfera.hr and a contributor to numerous media outlets. Her work is characterized by curiosity, a penchant for experimentation, and a consistent rejection of superficiality.
