The music video for “I Wish I Knew”, a song by American jazz artist Byron Motley from the album Jazz & Cocktails, was entirely filmed and produced in Croatia. The video is directed and produced by Croatian filmmaker Katja Restović, who also handled cinematography and editing.
The video offers an intimate and refined visual interpretation of the song, relying on atmosphere, subtle imagery, and an emotional rhythm that follows the jazz and gentle groove of the music. The fusion of music and ambience further emphasizes the sense of nostalgia and ongoing introspection that runs through the piece.
“Byron has a unique energy — at once warm, calm, and passionate — which perfectly matched the emotion of the song,” Restović points out. “My goal was to create visuals that would not dominate the music, but rather give it space to breathe.”
She adds that a strong sense of mutual trust was present throughout the entire process, allowing the video to remain simple yet emotionally powerful, staying true to the character of the composition.
