The performance The Night of Theatre was created specifically for the annual Night of Theatre, with the idea of revealing what happens behind the curtain once a show has ended. As Katja Restović explains, the starting point was simple and playful: what actors do after a performance, how they relax and enjoy themselves once the roles are set aside.
Synopsis and cast
The performance begins with the ending of a show – specifically the final moment of A quickie comedy – after which the ensemble remains on stage and decides to unwind, play and improvise. From this moment of spontaneity, the performance itself emerges, built entirely around pantomime and simple, everyday actions.
The entire ensemble takes part, with each segment presented as an individual pantomime piece, while group dynamics gradually develop. As Katja Restović adds, the performers are divided into groups that compete against each other in pantomime challenges, creating rhythm, structure and a playful sense of competition.
The performance also introduces hosts, most notably Žitomir Klaričić, who leads the action with great precision – timing the scenes, explaining tasks to the teams and guiding the flow of the game. He is joined by Azeglio Picco as co-host, further enhancing the dynamic exchange on stage.
As the performance progresses, the jury gradually becomes an interactive element of the show itself – the audience takes on the role of the jury and actively participates in judging and responding. Katja Restović adds that the interactivity is developed gradually and carefully, without disturbing the structure of the performance, which remains clear, focused and theatrically coherent.

The performance is, concludes Katja Restović, simple in form yet distinctly contemporary in its approach. It was created with a clear purpose – to present a special premiere for the Night of Theatre, held annually, celebrating playfulness, togetherness and the joy of live performance.
