Maja Blagdan & Katja Restović: A partnership that shaped the visual identity of one of Croatia’s greatest vocalists
Over the years, Restović has directed a series of music videos for Maja Blagdan, gradually developing a recognisable aesthetic language that mirrors Maja’s vocal intensity.
Their collaboration spans many years and several projects, each seeking a delicate balance between powerful vocal interpretation and visual elegance. This often resulted in minimalist, emotionally charged scenes.
“On set, there was always a special kind of focus,” says Restović. “Maja is an artist who can completely change the energy of a shot in an instant with her interpretation — and that’s something I truly love about her. She is very responsible, listens carefully to direction and values constructive criticism.”
The first video they made together was “Ja živim za tebe”, which left a deep mark on both their long-standing friendship and creative understanding. “Maja has held a special place in my heart for many years,” Restović concludes.
