As Katja Restović explains, the process was once again defined by strong collective work, trust and the joy of shared creation.

The leading role was performed by Jakša Grgić, whose outstanding acting skills, stage presence and precision played a crucial role in shaping the performance. His interpretation of the Emperor drew significant attention and gave new depth to this well-known story.

The costume design

The costume design was once again created by the excellent Kristina Nefat from Pula. Her costumes were imaginative, playful and visually striking. While the production shared a strong focus on lighting, music and stage movement, similar to The Princess and the Pea, it was developed in a completely different rhythm and aesthetic language. As Katja Restović points out, this contrast between the two adaptations was an important part of her directorial approach.

The audience experienced the performance as a visual journey in which – says Katja Restović – every stage image invites enjoyment, encouraging attentive watching and immersion in the theatrical moment.

The premiere took place at the Poreč Theatre, followed by several reprise performances. The Marketeatar ensemble also presented the production at the Golden Tooth Festival, as well as during The Night of Theatre, where it was warmly received by audiences.

The visual identity

The visual identity of the production was further enhanced by the poster design, created by the same graphic designer who designed the posters for The Princess and the Pea. She is an outstanding designer whose work, concludes Katja Restović, is precise, imaginative and deeply attuned to theatrical sensibility, contributing significantly to the overall identity of the performances.

The theatre performance The Emperor’s New Clothes was created as an adaptation of the classic fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, developed in close collaboration with my ensemble.
